GAUNG is eclectic rock band from Bandung. Playing Krautrock 'not expect the earth', Sludge metal 'no dirty no learn', Psychedelic rock 'solemn capital', Tribal polyrhythm 'ADHD confident'. Previously have released several works, which are renowned for their distinctive style in each work. Album 'Opus Contra Naturam' and singles 'Global Problem Listening Class' (released in 2018 by Orange Cliff), mini-album 'Hidup Sekar Mati Tak Mampus' (self-released in 2019), EP Aporia in 2021 (released in 2021 by DSSTR Records), and one official music video 'Suma Injuria'. We are in the middle of a work-in-progress, to finish an extended version of the full-length album 'Hidup Sekar Mati Tak Mampus', alongside with music videos, and live-performance video. 2016 - 2017 Discography
The name arises as a jamming platform for years, until formed as a solo band format, marked by dual single releases; Killing With Virtue (artwork by Visual Dts) and Global Problem Listening Class (artwork by Djali). To support the band's DIY tour to South East Asia-Java-Bali, cassette format has been released by Orange Cliff Records, and Lathe cut 7" picture disk format is released by Singapore-based label Vanilla Thunder Records. GAUNG's single Music Video Summa Injuria is directed by Nitya Putrini, the MV screening session is held at the Omni Space (poster is illustrated by Dwiky KA). Later Opus Contra Naturam was released on CD and Cassette format by Orange Cliff (artwork by Texas-based artist Dann K Miller, sleeve by Jakarta-based designer Ardneks), followed by the band's debut showcase, 'Guide To A Tranquil Banquet With A Foe' at Playhouse Gudang Selatan Bandung.

GAUNG announced the fixed quartet personnel while creating the self-release Api Padam Puntung Hanyut Tarung Abadi single on limited CD-R/merchandise format (artwork by Yasmin Hutasuhut), Followed by the second album Hidup Sekar Mati Tak Mampus, collaborate with Tesla Manaf (KUNTARI), Tommy Herseta, and Randslam, self-released on limited handmade Cassette with reusable shell/merchandise format, designed by Rama Saputra and motion graphic by Blackdisk. Later GAUNG has several Java-Bali tours, from DIY stage to festivals, such as Archipelago, ArtJog, Noice, and HSTD, etc. The band tries to archive and manifest their experience and expression in the form of the zine, titled Opus Contra. In 2019, GAUNG started to attempt live-improvisation performances of ambient-drone and extended-playing instruments, titled Oxymoron at Sonic Panopticon FSRD ITB. In conjunction with Abandon Ink, the band held the second showcase in the library on Goethe-Institut Bandung (artwork by Matemerahcomix), and went to Bali for Chaos Non-Musica festival at 2019.
